At Imagine This Women’s International Film Festival (ITWIFF), we pride ourselves on amplifying the voices of talented women filmmakers from around the world. This year, we celebrated the remarkable achievements of several films that made their mark on the festival and beyond. These extraordinary works are not only award-winning but also critically acclaimed, gaining recognition from prestigious organizations like the Academy Awards®, BAFTA, and the Peabody Awards.

We are thrilled to announce that Superman Doesn't Steal won the NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Short Form (Live Action) and I’M NOT A ROBOT has been officially Nominated for Best Live Action Short Film Oscar! This exciting milestone further cements its place as a standout work of art, and we could not be prouder to have screened it at Imagine This Women’s International Film Festival.

"I’M NOT A ROBOT"
This sci-fi short directed by Victoria Warmerdam delivers a darkly comedic exploration of identity and self-perception. I’M NOT A ROBOT received the Best Sci-Fi Short award at Imagine This Women’s International Film Festival and is nominated for Best Live Action Short Film Oscar. Its clever narrative and striking visuals have left a lasting impression on audiences.

"Superman Doesn't Steal"
Directed by Tamika Lamison, this poignant coming-of-age story set during the '70s Atlanta Child Murders captured the hearts of the ITWIFF audience. It was awarded Best Narrative Short Film at the festival and won the NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Short Form. It was also For Your Consideration for Best Live Action Short Film Oscar. This film masterfully portrays themes of heroism, trauma, and resilience, making it a standout in this year’s lineup.

"Sister's Wives"
This captivating short film, which had its New York premiere at ITWIFF, explores themes of female friendship, courage, and allyship in a polygamous society. Directed and written by Louisa Connolly-Burnham, Sister's Wives was awarded Best International Narrative Short Film at Imagine This Women’s International Film Festival. The film is For Your Consideration for Best Live Action Short Film Oscar® and BAFTA-qualified, in addition to being BIFA-longlisted—a testament to its powerful storytelling and cinematic excellence.

"Reimagined Volume III: Young Thang"
Premiering on the East Coast at ITWIFF, this innovative work by Melissa Joyner, Julie Cavaliere, and Michaela Ternasky-Holland is a bold and imaginative narrative inspired by African folklore. The project has been recognized as a 2024 Peabody Award Nominee in the Immersive & Interactive category, solidifying its place as a groundbreaking piece of storytelling.

"Eighty Thousand Steps"
Making its North American premiere at ITWIFF, Eighty Thousand Steps is an immersive experience like no other. Directed by Crystal Chan, this project invites the audience to walk alongside a refugee and uncover a compelling mystery through 3D audio clues. The film won Best Immersive Project at Imagine This Women’s International Film Festival and earned a Webby Award Nomination for its innovative approach to storytelling.

"The Runt"
Premiering in New York at ITWIFF, The Runt is another exceptional short film that has earned its place as a contender for Best Live Action Short Film Oscar®. Directed by Christy Stratton, this heartfelt coming-of-age story set in 1979 delves into themes of self-discovery, courage, and resilience.
